Role-Based Access Control

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) has been a recognized for twenty years. It offers a proven approach to efficiently manage users, permissions, and ever-changing nature of staff. While a CMS can offer an access control mechanism, the “role-based” approach must be configured wisely by someone who understands the RBAC model. In this presentation Randy explains RBAC and shares how he implements it in Joomla, a CMS that accommodates the RBAC models.
Discussion will include these RBAC values:
• Least privileges
• Separation of duties
• Accommodating ongoing changes in personnel and responsibilities
• User management
• Role Hierarchy
• Constraints
