Leveraging the JDatabase Class

If you're interested in getting info from anywhere in the database onto a page in Joomla (or saving data to the database), you should be using Joomla's built-in Jdatabase class to do that. Proper interaction with a database not only puts the power of *all* database information and functionality at a web developer's fingertips, it also helps ensure security best practices are being used by your scripts (e.g., preventing SQL injection hacks and so forth). This proposed session would cover much of the Jdatabase class basics, highlighting ways (via code examples) in which one can leverage Joomla to work with database tables. Over the years, the speaker has developed numerous best practices, tips, and tricks for working with this amazing class -- all of which will be shared via examples. The class will be fairly introductory-level, although basic knowledge of PHP and certainly MySQL would be very helpful for attendees. This is an empowering session for web developers; master Jdatabase and you can (and probably will) earn a lot more money as a web developer!
